A report from the English media this weekend has provided an insight into Crystal Palace’s hunt for a striker.
Crystal Palace need goals
Palace’s start to the 2021/22 campaign has been fairly underwhelming.
They would begin their season with a 3-0 hammering at the hands of European champions, Chelsea.
This was followed by the Eagles failing to score a goal against newly-promoted Brentford, and being forced to settle for a 0-0 draw.
Palace were then in League Cup action in midweek, but fell to a 1-0 defeat to Watford.
Granted, they did then manage a credible draw on Saturday, in a 2-2 stalemate with high-flying West Ham.
However, on-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher would score both of the goals for the capital club on the day.

Crystal Palace’s striker hunt
This leaves Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke all goalless after four games of the season.
So, it would make sense for Patrick Vieira to at least attempt to add some much-needed firepower to his side’s ranks up top before the transfer window shuts.
And, as mentioned above, the Sun have today provided an insight into Palace’s striker hunt.
It is claimed that the Eagles are willing to spend £12m on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, with the Gunners, who initially asked for £20m, ready to lower their demands.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace are believed to have tabled a £15m offer for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard. Rubin Kazan, though, are also understood to have bid for the Frenchman, whilst Bordeaux and Nice are too credited with an interest.
Finally, the board at Selhurst Park are eyeing a loan swoop for Real Madrid’s 24-year-old Borja Mayoral, who could be recalled from his current loan spell at AS Roma.
