Rafa Benitez addresses previous comments regarding Everton after taking manager job

Benitez explains comments Rafa Benítez was unveiled as Everton’s new head coach ahead of the upcoming season. Everton were diligent in their announcement of Rafa Benitez and very well aware of the fact that he has an association with their biggest rivals Liverpool. A video released on their YouTube channel showed the Spaniard being asked about previous comments made and Benitez explained well the context of the time and place in which those words were uttered. “I have been in Madrid, Naples, Valencia, Tenerife, Extremadura and Liverpool. Every single club I was there, I was fighting for them. If you analyse things in the context, what you are expecting from your manager is to fight for your club, and I will do that,” he said. “I am here, I will fight for my club, I will try to win every single game, and it doesn’t matter who the opponents are, or the rivals. It is something you have to do, it is your nature, that you have to try to do your best.” “That’s why a lot of fans in a lot of t

Tottenham Hotspur confirm Nuno Espirito Santo capture

Tottenham’s Public hunt After nearly three months without a permanent manager, Tottenham Hotspur have finally announced their new boss. Head-coach since Jose Mourinho was fired at the beginning of April, leaving the inexperienced Ryan Mason in charge of the side until the end of the season. The situation has been further complicated by the Lilywhites’ qualification for the UEFA Conference League, Europe’s third-tier competition, and star striker Harry Kane’s desire to leave the club. Tottenham have since led a very public hunt for a new boss, with no fewer than eight names having rejected the job or any approach from the North London side. ❌ Nagelsmann ❌ Rodgers ❌ Flick ❌ Allegri ❌ Ten Hag ❌ Pochettino ❌ Conte ❌ Fonseca ❌ Gattuso Who will Tottenham appoint as their next manager? 🤨 — Goal (@goal) June 18, 2021 However, Ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo rose to the fore as a candidate a week ago, and was officially unveiled as their new boss this evening. ✍️ Welcome to Totte

Why William Saliba rejected Rennes loan move, Arsenal considering other options for Frenchman

Saliba & Arsenal considering options The future of William Saliba has become a huge debate amongst Arsenal supporters who are concerned that they will never see the young Frenchman play in the red and white before he leaves. Signing for The Gunners in 2019 under Unai Emery, he returned to Saint Etienne on loan for a season before his full arrival a year later. However, Mikel Arteta did not include Saliba in his first-team plans and the then 19-year-old was sent to play with the under-23s to his frustration. As a result, Saliba left the club in January on loan to join Nice where he impressed, alongside fellow loanee Jean-Clair Todibo. How much Arsenal paid Mesut Ozil on his final day being paid by the club

Ozil, Arsenal link is over Despite not having played for the club since before the first UK lockdown, Arsenal have continued to pay Mesut Ozil an extortionate amount of money. The German international signed his deal with the club under Arsene Wenger soon after the departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United. Arsenal saw the deal as an imperative in order not to lose both key players within the group. However, soon after signing his new deal, his performances lacked consistency and quickly the overall opinion on the player’s situation with the club grew sour. It worsened under Unai Emery and became almost untenable under Mikel Arteta. Indeed, it got to the point where eventually the club, led strongly by Edu the technical director, managed to get Ozil out permanently in January of 2021. 🚨 MESUT OZIL LEAVES ARSENAL 🚨 ⚽️ Agreement in principal was to end contract & join Fenerbahce on free ⚽️ Eventually became permanent transfer (no fee) to allow potential future #FENER to

Liverpool make bid for FC Porto midfielder Otavio

Liverpool have made a bid for FC Porto’s Otavio, according to reports stemming from Portugal. Who is Otavio? Otavio, now 26, joined FC Porto in September of 2014, departing Brazilian outfit Internacional for a reported fee of £2.25m . However, Otavio was then loaned out to fellow Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes SC. After a decent loan spell with Vitoria, which saw him score seven and assist nine in 38 outings, Otavio then returned to Porto where he has since become a fairly regular feature. All told, the Brazilian has notched 188 appearances across all competitions for Porto. In said ties the attacking midfielder has scored 19 and assisted 49. 42 of those outings came in the 2020/21 campaign, with Otavio managing to earn five goals and 12 assists for Porto. Raheem Sterling matched Gary Lineker record with opening strike vs Germany

England see off Germany The first Euro 2020 round of 16 tie of the day played out a short time ago. Said tie pitted England against Germany at Wembley. The Germans have enjoyed dominance over England throughout many of the last decades and have knocked them out of both Euro 96 and the 2010 World Cup. However, on Tuesday, England finally put those demons to bed, sending the German’s home and booking their spot in the quarter-finals vs one of Sweden or Ukraine, who are in action later today. Germany started the match the brighter of the two teams and had a decent chance saved by Jordan Pickford after Timo Werner was played in by Kai Havertz. Three clubs enquire for Roma’s Spinazzola

Spinazzola catching the eye Leonardo Spinazzola has been one of Italy’s shining lights at Euro2020. Lining up at left wing-back for the  Azzurri, he has taken much of the plaudits falling on Mancini’s side, and rightfully so. Much of the Italians success has come from the forward runs of the naturally right-footed Spinazzola, who has provided one assist in his 3 appearances at the tournament to date. The goal contributions do not do his contribution justice, as he has often been the man driving his side forwards. Toni Kroos tipped to announce retirement after Euro exit

Germany exited Euro2020 with a whimper at Wembley, falling 2-0 to a clinical England side. After a relatively even first half, late goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane ensured that it was England, and not Germany, that booked their place in the quarter-final tie in Rome. Toni Kroos, one of the more experienced players on the pitch, explained why it was the Three Lions that ultimately came out on top, saying that : “It was difficult for our attackers to make something work with the long balls we sent forward. Our diagonal passes didn’t work out either, so we couldn’t hurt England as much as we wanted to.” Toni Kroos in the first half against #ENG ◉ Most touches (51) ◉ Most passes (37) ◉ Most fouls won (3) ◉ Most tackles (3) ◉ Most interceptions (2) Running the midfield. pic.twitter.com/u8UDvhZ7zs — Squawka Football (@Squawka) June 29, 2021 This was a specific tactical tweak from Gareth Southgate, who reverted to a back three for the first time in the tournament. France eliminated by Switzerland With just minutes remaining it looked like France had booked their place in the last 8 of the tournament. However, Switzerland had other ideas and goals from Haris Seferovic and Mario Gavranović sent the match into extra time. Neither side could find the back of the net despite consistent pressure, however, France failed to impose their greater possession. Sweden vs Ukraine: Context, H2H, key battles, subplots & predicted line-ups

Sweden vs Ukraine – Context: Two sides who will be delighted to have gone through to the last 16 of Euro 2020 having navigated relatively difficult groups. Sweden managed to finish top of their group which contain the likes of Spain, Poland and Slovakia. After nearly blowing top spot on the final matchday of the group stage, a late Viktor Claesson goal in the 94th minute confirmed the place. The win meant Sweden avoided facing Croatia to instead play a Ukrainian side very fortunate to go through on just 3 points. Their only win of the tournament coming against North Macedonia, Ukraine go into the last 16 tie as underdogs. Andriy Shevchenko will be hoping that the goalscoring form of Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk will return, with the pair being their best hope of progression. Sweden vs Ukraine – Head-to-head:   The two nations have only played against each other on four occasions. Ukraine however have the much better record having won 3 of the 4 games losing just the once. The
