Drinkwater departs Chelsea on loan/Tino Anjorin set to follow

Speculation in the English media on Monday evening has pointed towards an imminent exit for highly regarded Chelsea talent Tino Anjorin.

Blues starlet

19-year-old Anjorin has long been viewed as one of the most promising young talents on the books in southwest London.

The English youth international is an attacking midfielder by trade, but is also more than capable of lining out in a more orthodox central role in the middle of the park.

Anjorin’s starring displays at youth level saw him named the captain of Chelsea’s Youth Cup side in 2019/20, with a further 4 goals and 4 assists across 10 Premier League 2 appearances last season having seen the teen’s star continue to rise.

Such stellar exploits, in turn, even saw Anjorin carve out a regular spot for himself in the first-team setup of Frank Lampard late last year.

The midfield talent was afforded his Champions League bow in December, managing 80 minutes en route to a 1-1 group stage stalemate with Russian outfit Krasnodar, before also taking to the pitch in a pair of FA Cup ties.

Moscow bound

Despite his evident talents, and potential to develop into a genuine top-class performer, though, on Monday, it has been revealed that Anjorin is in fact inching towards the Chelsea exit door.

As per a number of reliable sources, the 19-year-old has been targeted by Russian powerhouse Lokomotiv Moscow, with the board at Stamford Bridge ready to sell.

A loan deal including an option to buy worth £17 million (which Lokomotiv fully intend to activate) next summer is therefore close to being completed.

Significantly, however, Chelsea will maintain a buyback option as part of the agreement:

Reading switch

Elsewhere on the outgoings front in west London on Monday evening, Danny Drinkwater’s latest loan departure has been confirmed.

The midfielder, who spent last season in Turkey with Kasimpasa, has linked up with Reading for the 2021/22 campaign, following Tiemoue Bakayoko out the Chelsea exit door amid a busy end to the transfer window for the Pensioners.
