Spanish giants Real Madrid have this afternoon taken to social media, to post footage of Manchester United-bound Raphael Varane bidding farewell to his long-time teammates.
Soon-to-be Red Devil
French stopper Varane’s Old Trafford switch has of course been the worst kept secret in football for some time now.
After luring Jadon Sancho to the club from Borussia Dortmund just last week, the Manchester United hierarchy followed up with an equally impressive deal for the Real Madrid stalwart.
Despite his status as one of world football’s finest, Varane is expected to set the Red Devils back an initial fee of just 34 million pounds. This comes with the 28-year-old’s contract in the Spanish capital having been due to expire next summer.
Varane, in turn, is primed to put pen to paper on a long-term contract in Manchester any day now.

Emotional goodbye
After joining the club as a raw teen back in 2011, Varane will depart Real Madrid a full decade later, having played an integral role in one of the most trophy-laden stretches in Los Blancos’ history.
The central-defender, after establishing himself as the first-choice partner for recently-departed captain Sergio Ramos, went on to secure a remarkable four Champions League titles, three La Ligas, the Copa del Rey, a quartet of FIFA Club World Cup crowns and much, much more.
It should therefore come as little surprise to hear that, upon Varane announcing the news of his imminent exit to the rest of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this afternoon, the scene proved an altogether emotional one.
Taking to social media, Real unveiled footage of their soon-to-be former defender bidding the club’s staff, and his teammates, a tearful farewell:
