A number of noteworthy talking points have come to the fore, stemming from the matchday squad called to action by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp this evening.
Liverpool back in action
Those on the red half of Merseyside are currently stepping up preparations for the season ahead.
After giving up their Premier League crown to Manchester City in altogether disappointing fashion last time out, Klopp and co. will no doubt be raring to go upon the 2021/22 campaign getting underway in a couple of weeks’ time.
In turn, this evening will see Liverpool line out for the club’s 2nd pre-season friendly of the summer.
The first, late last week, eventually culminated in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bundesliga outfit Mainz.
Thursday’s outing, meanwhile, will too see the Merseysiders face off against German opposition, in the form of capital outfit Hertha Berlin.
Van Dijk in/Origi out
Ahead of the action getting underway in Innsbruck, as is customary, the respective starting line-ups set to take to the pitch were, a short time ago, made official.
And, as outlined above, that of favourites Liverpool has since given rise to a number of noteworthy talking points.
The most high-profile comes in the form of the return of long-sidelined stopper and leader Virgil van Dijk, who joins Joe Gomez on Jurgen Klopp’s bench.
Summer signing Ibrahima Konate, for the 2nd game running, therefore joins Joel Matip at the heart of the Reds’ backline:
Ready for another pre-season challenge 👊

One player to have missed out on a spot in Klopp’s latest matchday squad altogether, on the other hand, is Divock Origi.
As confirmed by the reliable Neil Jones, however, this is not down to the transfer-linked striker inching any closer to the Anfield exit door, with Origi having instead picked up what has been described as a ‘minor knock’:
