Lionel Messi broke another record during his latest outing for Argentina.
Argentina see off Bolivia
Argentina faced off with Bolivia in their latest Copa America outing in the early hours of Tuesday.
Argentina headed into the tie having won two and drawn one of their opening three Copa America games this summer.
Said results had seen Argentina climb to 1st place in their group, though Uruguay were only behind them by three points.
Lionel Scaloni’s side were able to maintain that advantage in top spot, however, with a comfortable 3-1 win vs Bolivia.
And unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi was the star of the show for his country.
The Barcelona standout would score two of Argentina’s four goals on Tuesday, whilst also providing the below assist for the opening goal of the day after just six minutes.

Tuesday’s brace was also Messi’s first for Argentina since back in 2019:
18 – Lionel Messi has scored a brace for Argentina for the first time in 18 games: his last brace had been in the 5-1 win against Nicaragua in August 2019. It’s the second time Messi scored 2+ goals in a game in the Copa América. Decisive. pic.twitter.com/RwNhoRZaqM

Messi breaks Argentina record
On the back of his latest starring showing, it has been revealed that Lionel Messi has broken an Argentinian record.
Messi has broken Argentina’s record for the most national team appearances, taking to the field for the 148th time in his career for his country.
The record had previously been held by one of Messi’s former Barcelona teammates, Javier Mascherano.
