In this article we present our thoughts on which midfielders are worth picking up in your Euro Fantasy Football (EFF) team).
At 101, we are aiming to bring you extensive, detailed analysis of Euro 2020 Fantasy Football over the coming weeks.
EFF is slightly different to your regular FPL. So, to acquaint yourself with the rules, check out this piece here.
Another vital step in your Fantasy Football journey is of course picking your team’s name. And we have put together a list of the 101 best names for your Fantasy Football side in a list here.
Now, on to the most important area, picking your side. 101 are going to be providing you with the top picks for each position of your Fantasy Football side, with this article set to highlight the top 10 midfield options.
Much like in FPL, midfielders are awarded five points for a goal and three for an assist, making them some of the most valuable assets in your side.
Here are the top 10 we believe will benefit your FF side at Euro 2020.

1) Diogo Jota, Portugal (8.5m)
As mentioned above, having a midfielder who scores a decent number of goals is invaluable in both FPL and Euro Fantasy Football.
And one of the best options this summer looks set to be Liverpool and Portugal man, Diogo Jota, who, at just 8.5m is a real bargain when you consider players like Leroy Sane (9.5m), Kingsley Coman (9.5m) and Eden Hazard (9.5m).
Despite operating in fairly advanced roles for both club and country, Jota has been identified as a midfielder option on EFF.
And this should hopefully work in his owner’s favours, as there does look to be a good chance that Jota could be one of the highest-scoring midfield options at Euro 2020.
When fit, Jota proved a valuable, versatile attacker throughout 2020/21, and actually scored four more goals than Roberto Firmino, despite playing a lot less minutes.
For his country, meanwhile, the 24-year-old has only ever made 12 appearances for Portugal.
However, in recent months, Jota has become a key cog in Fernando Santos’ system. Heading into the tournament Jota looks to be nailed on as Portugal’s startling left-winger, with his versatility also allowing him to play on the right or through the middle.
And, in his previous six outings for A Seleção, Jota has managed to net five goals and provide two assists.
The main downside for Jota is the draw. Portugal face Germany, France and Hungary in Group F.

2) Ferran Torres, Spain (8m)
Of all the midfielders on this list, Ferran Torres represents perhaps the best value for money.
Before 2020/21, Torres was not exactly known as a prolific goalscorer and had netted just nine in 97 outings for Valencia.
Since his arrival at Manchester City though, the Spaniard has proven himself to be an astute finisher for both club and country.
For City, Torres has netted 13 and assisted three in 36 outings, which is a pretty impressive record when you consider a good chunk of those outings came as a sub.
For Spain, meanwhile, since making his debut in September 2020, Torres has been in superb form. In his 10 outings for Spain heading into the Euros, Torres has managed to find the net on six occasions, which is the sort of form that should really see him featuring regular this summer.
And unlike the aforementioned Jota, Torres’ Spain have a fairly decent group consisting of Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.
3) Lorenzo Insigne, Italy (8.5m)
The next player you could look to add to your EFF side is Italy and Napoli star, Lorenzo Insigne.
Insigne heads into this tournament in fine form for both club and country.
On the club front, Insigne would have a superb season which saw him net 19 and provide seven assists across 35 Serie A outings.
And for Italy, Insigne has been a key figure in their recent run of impressive form. In his last four outings for the Azzurri the 29-year-old has managed to provide four assists.
Italy are also the favourites for their group and if they do finish first in Group A, they should then be handed a comfortable round of 16 tie vs 2nd place in Group C.

4) Christian Eriksen, Denmark (9m)
Denmark have been drawn in Group B of the Euros along with Belgium, Finland and Russia.
And though the Danes are unlikely to top said group, they should still be in with a shot of coming 2nd.
Even if they lose to Belgium, there is a still a real chance they will score in the game, much like they did last November when they fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils.
The man almost certainly set to be involved in Denmark’s goals this summer, especially vs the weaker Russia and Finland, is Christian Eriksen.
The former Tottenham man is the most talented attack-minded player on Denmark’s books, scoring five in his last eight outings for his country.
Eriksen is also Denmark’s main penalty taker and has a superb record from 12 yards for his country, scoring the last 13 he has stepped up to take.

5) Kevin De Bruyne, Belgium (10.5m)
At 10.5m, Kevin De Bruyne is the joint-most expensive midfielder on EFF this summer.
He may not be Belgian’s no.1 penalty taker, but the Manchester City star still chips in with plenty of goal contributions.
In his last three outings for his country, for example, KDB has scored two and provided two assists.
And as already briefly discussed, Belgium are in a pretty favourable group which they should be able to dominate.
However, EFF managers may be wary of having De Bruyne in their team from the get-go, after the Man City star was injured during the Champions League final against Chelsea.
If De Bruyne is fit for Belgium’s opener against Russia on June 12, then it’s a no-brainer whether KDB is worth the investment.
However, if the Belgian star is still not 100%, you might be better going for another player instead.

6) Ivan Perisic, Croatia (8.5m)
Croatia are not the team they were at the 2018 World Cup when they made it all the way to the final.
However, barring England, Croatia still have a fairly favourable group to navigate and should be able to pick up some decent results vs Scotland and the Czech Republic.
And whenever Croatia do score goals, Ivan Perisic is likely to be in amongst them.
Perisic may now be 32 but he is still a key figure for the national side, scoring 27 and assisting 22 in his 99 outings for Croatia so far.
7) Jadon Sancho, England (9.5m)
Jadon Sancho heads into the Euros on the back of another superb campaign with Borussia Dortmund.
Despite still only being 21, Sancho is one of the Bundesliga’s brightest stars and would score 16 and assist 20 in 38 outings during 2020/21.
And if the winger can be in similar form this summer for the Three Lions, then he could be one of the best midfielders at Euro 2020.
However, the reason Sancho finds himself lower down this list is, despite his clear talent, his position as a regular starter for England is not nailed on. Gareth Southgate could easily turn to Raheem Sterling or Marcus Rashford instead.
If Sancho does get starts vs Scotland, the Czech Republic and Croatia then he is bound to score a fair few points. Whether that happens though, remains to be seen at this time.

8) Bruno Fernandes, Portugal (10.5m)
Brun Fernandes has been one of the Premier League’s best midfielders for the past 18 months now.
So, having him so far down this list may seem slightly odd. However, there are a number of factors to take into account when deciding to put Fernandes in your FF side.
Firstly, Portugal have a tough group that includes Germany and France, which should be taken into account when picking any of their players.
Also, Fernandes’ return for Portugal in the past has not been as impressive as it currently is for United. And unlike at United, Fernandes is not Portugal’s penalty taker, with that duty instead falling to Cristiano Ronaldo.
So, at 10.5m Fernandes may be slightly overpriced, though he could still prove a solid option this summer.

9) Gareth Bale, Wales (9.5m)
If Wales are going to have any success at this summer’s Euros, Gareth Bale is likely to be involved.
The Welshman heads into the tournament on the back of some fine end-of-season form with Tottenham, which included him netting a brace on the final day of the Premier League season.
And Bale, despite being 31, remains Wales’ star man, having netted 33 goals and provided 18 assists in 90 outings to date.
Bale is also a nailed-on starter, which is very helpful when choosing for your EFF team, and he often takes penalties as well, which is of course another big plus from a Fantasy Football perspective.
As for Wales’ upcoming opponents, they begin the tournament with clashes vs Switzerland and Turkey, both of which are ties they should be able to get something from.
Bale is a punt, no doubt. However, the upside could be huge in could well be Bale’s last international tournament of his career.
10) Andriy Yarmolenko, Ukraine (8.5m)
Ukraine are not the best of sides and there is a chance they may fail to make it out of their group, which consists of the Netherlands, Austria and North Macedonia.
However, Ukraine should still be able to give Austria a decent game and should be able to beat North Macedonia – who are entering the Euros for the first time in their history.
And whenever Ukraine are scoring, Andriy Yarmolenko is likely to be amongst the goals.
The West Ham man has scored 38 and assisted 21 in 92 outings for Ukraine previously and should be a key figure at the Euros again this year.
With an 8.5m price-tag, there may be some better options than Yarmolenko such as Ferran Torres or Jota. But if you already have those players or want to swap them out when their sides have a tough game, Yarmolenko could be your man, especially in the second round of group games when they face North Macedonia.
