Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has, on Thursday, provided an update on the fitness of star striker Danny Ings.
Foxes showdown
Hasenhuttl and co. are of course set to return to action tomorrow evening.
In the first fixture of the Premier League weekend, the Saints will welcome high-flying Leicester City to St. Mary’s.
Southampton head into proceedings with little to play for, siting a full nine points clear of the relegation zone, whilst boasting a game in hand.
Friday’s hosts will, though, likely have revenge firmly on their minds, after seeing a rare chance to book their spot in an FA Cup final brought to an end by their upcoming opponents two weeks ago.
🇳🇬 Kelechi Iheanacho continues his fine form as he puts Leicester City ahead early in the second-half against Southampton.

Leicester, however, will be desperate for a 3-point haul of their own.
Brendan Rodgers’ men are of course in the thick of the top-4 battle, sitting 3rd, four points clear of Chelsea.
The Foxes will also be brimming with confidence ahead of tomorrow’s matchup, on the back of a trio of successive victories across all competitions.
Ings ruled out
As such, ahead of what is no doubt set to prove a testing evening for his side on Friday, Ralph Hasenhuttl will be keen to have as many of his key performers fit and available as possible.
One Saints star, however, set to play no part, is Danny Ings.
Hitman Ings was forced out of the club’s meeting with Tottenham last week, after picking up yet another fitness problem.
And, speaking during a press conference this afternoon, Hasenhuttl confirmed that the former Liverpool man, in turn, will be forced to sit out the action versus Leicester:
‘We have Ingsy, Bertrand and Romeu out.’
When pressed further on Ings’ wellbeing, the Southampton boss even hinted that the attacker may not feature again this season:
‘It is not worse than it looked; I don’t know if he comes back for the last few games [of the season]. We have Liverpool and then five games in two weeks so we need every player.’
